I'm having difficulty posting text with the embedded video, so i'll do it this way:
Murphy Turner is the cat of Mary Turner -- or maybe Mary Turner is the person of Murphy. Anyway, Mary is the executive director of the Smyrna Opera House. That's Murphy fleeing from the video camera to find his favorite treat on the shelf.
You can read a Q&A with Mary in the March issue of Delaware Pets, reaching pet-related businesses, shelters and other locations starting this weekend. And you can read a Q&A with Murphy -- yes, Murphy -- at http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070314/PETS01/70314096//PETS
Murphy is a svelte 8.6 pounds according to the vet who weighed him about a week ago when he was in for his monthly wash and fluff [I know, I know, cats don't like to be groomed, but with his damaged mouth and semi-useless tongue, about all he can manage to do is to wash his privates as a party-piece - in other words - to sit in the center of the floor surrounded by admiring folks [are there any other kinds?] and wash his unmentionables for the edification and delight of all - sometimes his person tries to reprimand him, but his audience is always quick to demand more.]
He says the reason he looks so big - he prefers healthy or well-furred - is that, as you know, the camera always adds several pounds, and since he didn't know that he had a 'shoot' that day, he didn't put on his extra-tight 'dress' fur that morning, preferring the looser and more comfortable 'everyday' outfit that he wears when he doesn't expect to have to be photographed.
He did show his best [rearward] moves though, and you have to admit he has style.
[transcribed by Murphy's person, since he prefers to catch mice rather than use them on the computer]
