Carousel Park near Pike Creek, DE is a great dog park -- whether going to the off leash area, or walking your dog on leash in the park. Only drawback: all the poop! Not from the dogs but the horses and geese... But again - that's why dogs love it, it smells great.
I agree, Carousel Park is an awesome place for the dogs to play.
There is a new Park in Middletown, Levels Road park. The fenced bark parks are huge and a great place.
Hands down... Iron Hill Park. Its fenced in, there is shade, there are benches, and the overall friendly atmosphere with other owners and dogs. Can't beat it!
Rockford Park has a great Bark Park.
Levels Road dog park in Middletown, DE. It has 5 acres fenced for big dogs and 3 acres fenced for small dogs. You cannot top that.
Where are these women? Not even close to a dog park- the dogs are on a lead.
I usually pick up dogs at local bars, then take them home.
The picture looks like Glasgow Park. Owners of dogs using Glasgow need to clean up afterwards.
Crousel park is by far the best park for dogs, people, and just overall wildlife. There are horses, frieldly people, open space, and lots of woods which my dog loves! but there is alot of poop but im fine with it as long as i dont step in it :D
Rockford is convenient if you live near the city. Carousel is great but beware if your dog likes to swim. I have a lab that I can't keep out of the water and there have been occasions where he gets sick after swimming there. I've heard that other dog owners have had the same problem. I still go, but try to limit his time in the water. What they need to do is get an off leash area in North Wilmington (other then the little one by the library.) Bellevue would be a GREAT place to have an off leash area.
If you step in poop at a dog park you get to make a wish. It's an involuntary act!
Carousel park is it, but don't tell anybody. Best goose and horse poop in Newcastle county.
Carouselbark@yahoo groups is the Website for Carousel.
Iron Hill has the best Bark Park. I agree that the people there are always friendly. My 16 year old dog loves it there as there is enough room for him to walk around and mingle with other dogs and humans. He's a little to old to play with some of the younger dogs (his hips aren't int he best shape)and with all the room there, he doesn't have to. I love this park.
Red House Road. Laurel/Bethel/Seaford.
700 acres.
We love taking our two huskies to the Middletown Levels Road park. It is awesomely big with 5 acres of 6' high fencing for the large breeds and an additional 3 acres of 6' high fencing for the smaller breeds. There are benches, freshly planted trees, double gate system, and people and dog waterer. It's great cause you can come in with your dogs and job the perimeter and get a good workout for both you and your pets. Can't wait for summer and many days of enjoyment there for us and our huskies. Check it out!
Hands down Carousel Park - huge area and lake. My German Shepherd loves swimming and so are many other dogs. People and dogs are friendly - love love love this park!!
Iron Hill is the best. Lots of shade, places to sit, water for the dogs (and people). Everyone is very friendly.
i'm looking for a pig park.... any ideas?
i'm looking for a place for my dog to crap and i dont need to pick it up. other than ruthann minner's yard, got any ideas?
Carousel Park in Pike Creek is nice but I've run into a couple people that couldn't control their dogs. Can be a little annoying.
Levels Road Park in Middletown is the best one south of the Canal. In addition to the 2 large fenced in areas for big dogs and small dogs, there are many pavilions, a lake and 2 great jungle gymns for the kids.
FurrButts.com LOVES Carousel Bark Park!
We love the Off-leash area, the water, the trails and all of the Critters to see!
Lums Pond in Bear is the best! They have a nice open area for dogs to run around. There is also a pond for them to swim. No goose poop (like at Carousel Park). There is also a waste station with baggies for easy clean up if you forget your own!!
I live down the street from Talley Day Park. It is a nice, small bark park. In recent times it has become less pleasant because a handful of park patrons don't feel the need to follow the rules.
I have seen common sense go out the window many times - including one incident where a child and peanut butter sandwich were brought into the park. The parent expected the child to be able to eat the sandwich in peace and pushed and shoved dogs away from her child because they wanted the snack. It could have turned into a dangerous situation, but luckily someone spoke up before something happened.
I would recommend Talley Day Bark Park if people followed the rules and used their heads.
****Instead, I prefer Rockford Park. While it is not fenced in, people there tend to comply with the rules and pick up after their dogs more consistently.****
Carousel was the best before it became so commercialized. Watch out for aggresive dogs and irresponsible owners. My dog was attacked by an aggresive dog and I was bit as well...the owner took off after the incident and left me with a vet bill and a hospital bill. And this was a day when there were tons of people around, luckily, who helped me out. I had to get a series of rabies shots and my dog has never been the same. Of course incidents like this are rare but it does happen. Carousel can be a great place for you and your dog, just be aware and cautious of your suroundings.
Anyplace is a park when you take your dog for a 3 mile walk on a leash.
I agree Carousel Park is best place to walk with pets. I have seen group of people walking with pets especially dogs. My friend has one, and he used to go there for leisure.
