'Marley & Me' Movie: Looking Forward to It?
I am an unabashed lover of "Marley & Me," the book, and I cannot wait for "Marley & Me," the movie, opening Christmas Day. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston are inspired casting, and how can you possibly go wrong with a cute puppy and a cute dog playing Marley, the el-destructo yellow Lab, at different ages?
My favorite line of the trailer: "That is evil with a dog face." My favorite scene? Marley runs away and Owen Wilson says, "Whose DOG is that?" Isn't that a universal experience?

Just know that for pet lovers the ending will bring tears - a 3 hanky ending for sure - but it is a good cry.........
Its a CG (computer-generated) dog and the movie script apparently has little in common with the book, with the story focusing more on the human characters then the dog.
I had read an interview with the director (I think it was), who said that those who go to the moving and expecting it to follow the book could be disappointed.
Wrong - they used 23 dogs to film the movie. No crappy CG stuff
Actually I read in an interview with Grogan (the author of the book) that there were 44 dogs used. Some 20+ were used to depict Marley through the years - there are links on you tube that show some of the training done prior and on the set - puppies being trained by clicker to run and turn a certain way - very fascinating for those that don't own a dog (shows with patience and the right training method) how young you can actually train pups.
Grogan ended up adopting one of the pups that played Marley - another male.....
